Our History
Our History
Calvary Worship Center was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1965 under the name Calvary Evangelistic Center. Its original location was on Belmont St. in Worcester, MA next to UMass Memorial hospital. There was a sign on the church that read “Jesus Loves You,” which gave the hope of spiritual life to the people.
In the year 2000, Calvary moved to Parker Avenue in Holden, MA, its current location. Joseph Ford was the Pastor of Calvary from 1985-2015. He holds a Master’s Degree from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, MO and a Doctoral degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA. Throughout his entire time as a pastor, he remained a teacher at Northpoint Bible College (formerly Zion Bible College), where he currently teaches.
Pastor Joe is a man who has personally experienced the grace of God and who loves God’s Word. He is an incredible teacher and preacher with a unique gift of explaining the Word of God in a way that is easily understood by the educated and uneducated alike. He and his exhuberant wife have been happily married for over 38 years.
Joe retired in September of 2015 and his son-in- law Bob Handley became the pastor of Calvary. He too loves the Word of God and desires that every person have a life-changing encounter through God’s Spirit. Bob and Jen have 3 children whom they are eternally grateful for.
