WHAT WE BELIEVE
WHAT WE BELIEVE
WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God (2 Tim. 3:16-17). The Holy Spirit moved upon the writers of the Old and New Testament and inspired them as they wrote the Words of God (2 Pt. 1:21). God’s revelation in Christ and in Scripture is unchangeable (Ps. 119:89, Is. 40:8, Mt. 5:18). Through it the Holy Spirit still speaks today (Heb. 4:12).
WE BELIEVE that there is One God (Deut. 6:4), eternally existent in three personalities; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 13:14). God the Father- Creator of all things (Gen. 1:1). By His Word all things were created and through the power of His Word all things are held together (Col. 1:16-18). He sent His Son Jesus to redeem mankind unto Himself (Jn. 3:17). A relationship with God comes through Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6). Jesus Christ- is the only begotten Son of God (Jn. 1:14), conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of a virgin (Mt. 1:18). He lived a sinless life (1 Pt. 2:22), and performed many miracles (Jn. 20:30). He redeemed us by His atoning death through His shed blood (Eph. 1:17), He ascended to the right hand of the Father (Acts 2:33), and He will personally return in power and glory (Mk. 13:26). There is no other name under heaven by which man must be saved (Acts 4:12). Holy Spirit- inspired the writers of the Bible (2 Tim. 3:16), convicts the world of sin (Jn. 16:18), teaches us all things, and brings to our remembrance the Word of God (Jn. 14:26).
WE BELIEVE that mankind is perishing because of sin (Rom. 5:12), which separates him from God (Gen. 3:7-10). But God loves all mankind, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should repent (2 Pt. 3:9). Mankind can only be saved through believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Rom. 5:1, Rom. 10:9. Eph. 2:8-9), being regenerated by the Holy Spirit (Jn. 3:5-8, 2 Cor. 5:17).
WE BELIEVE in the present infilling of the Holy Spirit to all believers who desire it (Acts 2:14, 2:38-39). The Holy Spirit’s ministry to the body of Jesus Christ gives power to live, witness, proclaim the gospel and to make disciples (Acts 1:4-8). The Holy Spirit gives us the power to cultivate a Christ-like character through the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) and to build up and mature the church through the miraculous gifts and ministries in this present day (1 Cor. 12-14).
WE BELIEVE that the local church is a body of believers brought together by the Holy Spirit as a visible part of the body of Christ and His Church universal (Rom. 12:4-5, 1 Cor. 12:27, Eph. 4:4-5). The church is responsible to faithfully proclaim the whole Word of God (1 Pt. 2:5, 9, 10) in fulfilling the Great Commission (Mt. 28:18-20), properly administer the elements (1 Cor. 11:23-26), and humbly submit themselves to discipline (Mt. 18:15-20), all for
the glory of God.
WE BELIEVE that all mankind shall give an account of their deeds in this earthly life before the judgment seat of Christ (Eccl. 12:14, Rom. 2:5-6, 14:12). Those with their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will be eternally with God in His glory (Rev. 21:1-4), those without their names written will be eternally separated from God and tormented (Rev. 20:11-15).
WE BELIEVE that believer’s water baptism (Mt. 28:19, Acts 2:38), and the Lord’s Supper (1 Cor. 10:16-17, 11:23-26) are ordinances of the church and should be practiced regularly.
